The gorgeous resonance of brass in Just intonation.
NOTES
The primal cry of a baby that demands attention. A poem by Chryssy Tintner inspired a short work for for horn, trombone and tuba using a few blues notes, flat 7ths and neutral 3rds (neither major, nor minor). The music is a twist on a 12 bar blues structure, but here as a 25 bars with each segment of 5 bars repeated in a way to make 50 bars. I may have forgotten the baby's cry when writing the …

Trombone solo in Just intonation. 7th harmonics and 7th harmonics of 7th harmonics in fanfare and verse.
NOTES
The title refers to the analogy of a spinning top. When looking at the top one feels centred, serene, even still, whilst sensing the level of energy and activity required to keep the top spinning. Lyrical, microtonal, original style using just intonation on acoustic instruments.
NOTES
This instrumental song was inspired by a phrase from the book 'A Course in Miracles'. Delightful chord progressions come about by adjusting the valve slides of the horn to match certain harmonics. The 7th, 11th and 13th harmonics, with pitches a considerable distance from standard pitches, could be used as the roots of chords. This version is for 1 solo horn with 6 horns playing chords in just intonation. It is actually 2 songs. The first song, with …

Music using hIghly specified tunings to provide beautiful and fascinating harmonies.
NOTES
Seven Small Wheels Revolving is inspired by a short passage in The Stanzas of Dzyan of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky. The music begins with a simple melody which is repeated a number of times with harmonies added from 12 sets of harmonic series. The valve slides of the horn have been retuned in just intonation ratios resulting in a number of pitches in common between series as well as providing some close microtonal shifts. The horn player …
